unglazed clay pan set handmade — 2 piece, the shallow pan for eggs
The shallow clay pan is the format for menemen, for eggs cooked directly in the clay, for small individual dishes that go from stovetop to table without being transferred to another vessel. At 6.3 inches and 1.2 inches deep, it is the individual serving size — one pan per person, or two pans for a couple's breakfast.

Why We Selected This Piece
At Rootsware, we selected unglazed Anatolian terracotta because it is the material that Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Balkan kitchens have trusted for slow cooking for centuries. No coating, no glaze, no synthetic layer between the clay and your food.
Before Your First Use
- Rub the entire surface — inside and out — with a thin layer of cooking oil.
- Place in a cold oven. Do not preheat first.
- Heat gradually to 350F (175C) and hold for one hour.
- Allow to cool completely inside before removing.
Care & Cleaning
- Hand-wash only with warm water. Never use soap — the clay absorbs it.
- For stubborn residue, scrub gently with baking soda and rinse.
- Dry completely before storing. Store with lid slightly open.
- Not suitable for induction. Compatible with gas, electric, and oven.
